Halloween, more Halloween, and a bad beginning

Right. First, Halloween.

On Halloween itself, I had dinner with the Woodwards. I was late. Partly because of my own tendency toward lateness, but mostly because of an accident having things backed up and slowed on US RT 6. They have a lovely home, and their cats are as adorable as advertised. ;-)

Dinner, btw, was yumminess itself. :-)

Anyway, having been so late getting there, it threw off getting ready to go to OMN. So we didn't get there until 8. Someone was already at our usual table. I hate it when I make other people late. It's bad enough that I make me late, but it's just not fair when I manage to drag other people down into the nonpromptness that is so often me.

The Amici folks were highly amused by my costume. I was actually made to stand up and face the crowd during the opening set, just in case anyone hadn't seen me and my wound. I didn't expect to be show-and-tell. But as I'd forgotten my stuff in my car (rode up to Findlay proper with the Woodwards), I wasn't reading. So I guess it isn't so bad that I got dragged up front. :-)

Besides, I don't think they'd do that to someone they didn't like. That, and I think Craig liked saying it was a normal evening, even with knives sticking out of regulars. *L*

After Open Mike Night wrapped up (with a surprising lack of "halloween songs"), we drove back so I could get my car, then went on to BG. I finally have seen Crazy Eddie. And, other than the fact that it was so loud I couldn't make out hardly any lyrics, I've had at least a little exposure to the music from Hedwig. So that was great.

Costumes on the crowd in the Fishbowl were amusing. Although Sarah and I had some drinks dropped on us. That part wasn't exactly great. *shrug* Oh well.

So then Saturday (which should otherwise have been starting day for NaNoWriMo) was Talcott's party. Had a great time. Not a huge turnout, but it was fun hanging out with anyone, really. *shrug* I'm getting spoiled lately -- many chances to hang out with different folks.

Party wrapped up earlier than I might have guessed, and I didn't drink nearly as much as I expected to, so I drove back at about 2. It was foggy, but got better the farther north I got. Which was good, because I won't speed even a little in the fog, and as I had a headache, I really wanted to be home and sleeping.

I stopped at Super-K in Fremont to buy a candy bar (I was hungry, and hoped eating something might help my head) and got to see an adorable rat scampering around in the parking lot. I should go to Super-K in the dead of night more often, I guess. ;-)

Today, I had an absolutely dreadful headache when I woke up, and while drugs took the edge off for a while, it really didn't subside until just a little bit ago. A valium sometimes does the trick, as was the case this time.

Good thing, too. It was a nasty combination of sinus and tention, married to those scary movement based headaches I get. I had to talk Mom out of trying to take me to the emergency room, so I guess I looked like hell. Not surprising, considering how I felt.

Of course, the being gone yesterday followed by having that nasty nasty headache today has lead to my already being behind for National Novel Writing Month. I only have 1325 words so far. That's a bit off pace for a day, certainly far behind considering I'm two days in.

I hope for a productive day tomorrow, when I should have most of the day to devote to writing. Except for a break to go to the station in Toledo and buy myself some train tickets.

Lack of pain aside, I'm wiped from having been in pain all day, so I'm going to stop this entry now, before it degenerates into unrecognizable mush.

Uhm, yeah. I'm gonna go try to find my tape of Thursday's CSI episode now.

Did I make an entry about Thursday yet? I went down to Columbus and went to a reading by Billy Collins with Talcott. :-) I felt all smart-like. Although I ended up with a headache.

I've been getting these a lot again lately. I like to blame the weather, but a lot of them haven't been sinus, or haven't been purely sinus. They're crossing the migraine line a lot.

At least they've been atypical migraines. With the exception of my movement-based headaches, the worst headaches I get are the ones most typical to what people consider a "migraine."

I just hope I manage to be OK during my trip. The last thing I want is to have anyone worrying about me. And people always seem to worry about me when I've got a headache going. Probably because I look like hell and can only quietly grunt responses to direct questions most of the time.

I was ending this a few paragraphs ago, wasn't I? Right then, good night.
